Hello and welcome to Domestic Felicity! I’m Anna, an Orthodox Jewish homeschooling mother living a simple life in Israel with my family.

Together, my husband and I are exploring the path of becoming more self-reliant and doing more on less. Our present goal is to grow and raise a significant part of our own food. Ideally, I would like to have a large, productive vegetable garden, a flock of chickens and two or three dairy goats for the family. For now, however, we’re doing our best to bloom where we’re planted!.

On this blog you will find assorted articles, tips and stories on subjects such as simple living, homemaking, stretching a small income, homeschooling, health and nutrition, as well as tributes to my yarn addiction. I hope you stick around and look forward to hearing from you.

Why “Domestic Felicity”?

Domestic felicity is an expression found in the books of Jane Austen, which is one of my all-time favorite authors. It is sometimes used in ironic context, but I love this expression and consider it to be something of an overall outlook on the whole of living and working at home and its surroundings.
