This dress has been a long-standing project I’ve worked on, on and off, for almost a year. Sure, it took a while, but was so fun to make, and the result is just what I’d hoped for: a stretchy, drapey sweater dress, not too warm, light and airy, perfect for layering.
(Yes, I’m aware I still have ends to weave in, but I couldn’t wait to share this!)

I used Silk Merino Hand Dyed by Ice Yarns, a discontinued yarn. Side note: I will no longer recommend yarns from, or link directly to, the Ice Yarns store, as they have stopped shipping to Israel. But, since I already had this in my stash, I thought I might as well use it up.
This yarn is 80% merino and 20% silk and contains 361 yards/330 meters per 50 grams, which makes it lace weight/light fingering. I used 8 hanks, or 400 grams. A 2 mm hook for the collar and cuffs, and 2.5 mm for the body.
I adapted a Pinterest pattern and freehanded the ribbed cuffs and collar. The collar was the most time-consuming part by far!
Oh my goodness!! You are amazing!! I used to crochet clothing, but after children, I just never seemed to be able to pick it up. AND, now I remember, I USED to “watch” TV and crochet. Now, since I don’t watch TV anymore, I can not just sit and do it. I hope, iy”H, to do it again someday….maybe when I really retire lol. I was never like you, though, where I could adapt a pattern. And someday, BN, I will write to you and give you my story–don’t we all have one? I’ve been following you for several years now, only occasionally when I look at my emails. Shabbat shalom, and Happy Purim,

Thank you so much, Leah! I like to watch documentaries or listen to a good podcast when I crochet. I also do it during my daughter’s swimming class, while waiting for appointments, etc. I’m too fidgety to just sit and crochet in the middle of the day đŸ˜ƒ Purim Sameach!

So beautiful! My mother knit me a similar dress in pink when I was a little girl. Yours looks very elegant in this color. Wear it in good health!

what an accomplishment! I am so impressed. The dress is beautiful. I’ve made many afghans but not much in the way of clothing. Years ago I decided that I would never watch tv unless I was knitting or crocheting at the same time. If I was too tired for that, I was tired enough to just go to bed. Amazingly enough, that’s one vow I’ve managed to keep over the years. Just sitting and crocheting with nothing else going on is hard for me though. Congratulations on a real work of art.

That’s such a great resolution! I often crochet or knit while watching a documentary or listening to a podcast, and during video calls when I don’t need to keep the camera on. đŸ˜€
